Not sure if I'll continue with Dark Side of The Moon. It was good for practice, but with school (and the actual Halloween plot) starting, my attention is going to be diverted.
There's also an original project I sort of want to focus on.
You see, I've been mentally working on a story for a while now. It was originally a classic "Broken Masquerade" story, in which the hero discovered various supernatural creatures living in the city, and then some stuff happened... It never got off the ground.
Major cast edits, (including changing the protagonist), a change from big city to small town, and the addition of an actual plot resulted in the idea for a story (or series of stories) known as "River's End" (named after the town most of the original story takes place in.)
I'm still working on the characters, but I have the basic plot down.
Basically, there's this girl, Samantha Beckett (Punny name, I know.) When she was about 6, she went into a coma, diagnosed as a benign brain tumor that was putting too much pressure on her brain. In order to pay for her medical bills, her father had to take a job in the city, leaving Samantha with foster parents for reasons he couldn't explain. Samantha promised to wait for his return (or at least a visit) every Sunday.
And for 10 years, she did just that. Now she's a high school student, and she's had plenty of time to become very suspicious about the "Job offer" and the "brain tumor". Over the years, she's made numerous attempts to find her father, all of which have failed. Determined to find out exactly what happened to him, she and her best friend Zach begin a search for her father. At the same time, Samantha begins having strange "hallucinations". She begins seeing strange things around River's End, unexplainable things. What happened to Samantha's Father? Is Samantha going insane? What is this "Anriff Corp" that seems to show up everywhere they look? Who is this strange man who claims to have known Samantha's father, and... WHY THE HELL IS HE GREEN? OMG!
*cough*
One of the key elements of River's End is the juxtaposition of the supernatural with the mundane. This is explained using the "Weirdness Censor" trope. "Humans have an amazing capacity for self-deception" after all. And if The Doctor says so, you know it's true. XD
Right now, it's a collection of loose ideas, but eventually I hope I can get a script together. (Cause that's what I seem to like writing the most).
So yeah. ...Also expect River's End to use mostly proper grammar. It's like 1 am. I can barely spell right now, and I need to finish Treasure Island and write a summary by Monday. XD
